The Challenge

Caribbean Examinations Council and Macmillan Education signed an agreement during January 2014, granting Macmillan exclusive rights for the publication of syllabuses and past examination question papers and non-exclusive rights for the publication of subject reports, related specimen papers, and mark schemes for CSEC and CAPE.

The client (Macmillan) required technical expertise to implement this important new venture. More specifically, client required a business model, to-market strategy, and marketing plan, that when implemented, would quickly attract and onboard tens of thousands of users.

The Solution

Developed a business model based on a freemium concept in which mathematics and English A and English B past papers were offered free of cost to users who signed up and downloaded the e-book reader. The store was launched on November 7, 2014 and went live immediately thereafter.

As an ‘after sale’ follow, HCA provided the technical guidance required to launch an additional payment option for accessing digital CXC past papers.

The store is available online at https://cxc-store.com/.
